The wonderful Eugene DNA contacted me last month. After reading my intolerance articles, which was subsequently updated with ‘what is chronic nausea’ something that has always been put down to a lot of other issues but rarely linked to diet. That being said I’ve always been suspicious of my diet. I seem to have reactions at random points in the year and to random foods so initially, when Eugene contacted me I thought it was down to intolerance issues.

It was actually for weight loss testing.

What is weight loss testing?

DNA is the coding for how our body works. The decoded weight loss testing is an analysis of that code, laying out the details of how our bodies work. It gives you an overview of your metabolism and best methods for weight loss. In a nutshell. There is so much more to it then that but for now, that’s all you need to know.

Eugene DNA offer an analysis of your own weight loss plan here’s what they have to say about their kit and results.

How do they test?

As it was my first time doing a DNA kit I wanted to share it with my channel so I recorded the process and results for you! * Being the total clutz that I am I can’t for the life of me find the footage – sorry everyone*

A test kit is sent to your home within 2-3 days, all they want from you is a cheek swab and a few details for your postal address. I’ve never done a cheek swap before so I was honestly a bit nervous about it but they had tonnes of information on how the process goes. The kit has 2 pamphlets and two sterile swabs with a free post envelope.

Inside the pamplets was a detailed explanation of the process and a flow chart with diagrams of what to do with your swaps and where your swab goes after your results are sent to the lab.

How long does it take?20161022_134237

From paying to swabbing it only takes 2-3 days for your DNA kit to be in your hands. After that it’s up to you. As soon as you post of your sample you’ll have 2-3 weeks for your results to come in. My results took 4 weeks but I believe that it was because I was gifted this product by the company so the paperwork took longer to process. I had contacted the company to make sure they knew my details and I think that’s what caused my delay but once that went through the results were on special delivery within 5 days.

The packaging, of course, carries a lot of personal details so they send it recorded delivery, it’s in a hard back envelope with a booklet of your details but..more on that.

Since having my results I have gone back to a paleo diet, just without the animal products which has given me my energy back! Very happy and much more productive!dsc_1288
