Autumn Apparel for the Plus-Sized lady

plussized

Who said I wasn’t fair? Eh?

Fitness isn’t for the fit, it’s for everyone. Sometimes big brand names forget that. On my travels I try my best to look for new fitness ranges but plus size? That’s a hard one to find but not when shopping this lovely lot!

I have compiled a list of the best fitness brands that not only offer plus-sized fitness wear, they also offer it in great styles and comfort too. Along with some big name brands there’s also a tonne of own brands that use amazing fabric and extremely affordable, considering the market!

For me, trying to lose weight was hard. My chest felt heavy and my breathing was tough, that’s not the worst of it though. Having bruised breasts from cardio workouts or shorts that ride up so high you can taste the fabric – that’s not what plus-sized fitness wear should be like!

Simply Be

Simply Be

One of the biggest ‘big’ brands out there and they’re there for a reason, they create a great range of fashion wear! They have a ‘simply be’ range, only t’s and basic clothing but the fabric is pretty bang-on! They also have a large range of the larger sizes in their stores to make it more accessible to the market, some big fitness brands like Nike and Addidas!

I have been in store to check these out and the fabric is perfect. Non of this thin floaty malarky, it’s proper breathable-comfortable fitness apparel.

Again another big name brand, this time they have less choice of each brand but a wider selection of brands in their shop. Some I haven’t heard of and some popular ones I don’t see very often. Curvissa offer better, and more sporting fabric selections, than simply be.

Newlook, again it was a shocker that the online was so limited. If you can make sportswear in a size 10, size 16 isn’t that much of a stretch – literally. Non-the-less I found these outfits for a good sweat sesh!

Sports Direct

As a massive brand, specialising in sports wear you’d expect a lot from this store. Especially since int made this list but it really falls short. I was so shocked to see how little they had in plus sized clothing that I went in store today and they had nothing on the rails!

I eventually asked a shop assistant, who seemed to be busy and was quite rude but told me they have some stock out back if I knew what size I wanted. Doesn’t that take the fun out of shopping though? Telling a member of staff your size before getting to see the clothing?

Similar to the sports direct collection, it’s all online but they have some more up market clothing brands. I’m talking smart and sophisticated sportswear in large sizes. Even clothing I can’t get my hansd on for that price. I would say this is the best on the market by far, but you pay for it – it get’s pricey!

As I mentioned in the sports direct section. The biggest thing in plus sized clothing is the fact that there is so little!

Why do they make it so hard for the larger lady to get healthy?

After my shocking revelation that so few brands carry plus sized clothing I went into most of these stores and a few others. I was shocked to see nothing was in store either. Why is it that they don’t display larger fitness apparel? Do they think it looks bad? – No, it’s branding. They want you to visualise the smaller sizes and buy more!

Think about it, they’d make far more sales if they targeted the larger market, people are desperate to get healthy these days. With no access to the clothing they end up spending £££ on the wrong quality clothing or even worse, wear normal clothes and become uncomfortable and unsupported.

How are you expected to learn to love exercise and perform at your best if you can’t keep your boobs in one place?
It was horrendous trying to shop for 16+ sizes. I can completely understand why people get so depressed at the start of their journeys into health. Keep shopping – I hope I helped!
