The Ladival Sports Hamper – A Giveaway!

Win a sports Hamper

I suppose sun protection is one of those things we just don’t think about, it’s like mowing the grass. We only really do it when we think we ‘need to’ but sun protection isn’t something to shrug off, it should be as routine as putting on your underwear! I write about health and weight loss but what is a healthy body if you’re not protecting it? Health is much more than feeling good it’s about doing good.

It’s too much of a risk to take, to not wear sun protection… which is why I’ve teamed up with Ladival Sun Protection on this campaign. They’re currently the official sun protectors of British Tennis and as such they’re hosting some brilliant giveaways and getting invovled in social media to highlight how important sun protection is.

Ladival is launching a campaign from the 6th June to encourage people to play safely in the sun this summer. The campaign is called the #LoveSPF Rally and will encourage people to share their sports selfies online and tag a friend to carry on the social ‘rally’, building awareness of wearing SPF when playing sport in the sun.

For every sports selfie generated, Ladival will donate £1 to the Shunburn campaign for Teenage Cancer Trust.

It’s a slow burn

“Worryingly, nearly 2/3 (61%) of young people aged 13-24 have avoided using sunscreen in order to get a better tan, but it is the damage done to your skin when you’re young that could lead to skin cancer developing in later life.”

So the harm you’re doing now, will catch up with you. Be one step ahead and don’t be complacent. As Brits, I think we’ve become a bit complacent with it. We get fed up that we only get 3 days of sun a year and the second a flash peaks out from behind the clouds we get our kit off and crisp up. It’s only for a little while after all..”what harm can it do?”. A lot of harm, it turns out enough exposure from the suns rays to even warm the skin, means it has penetrated enough to damage it.

I’m a huge fan of slathering on the sun cream, yep..even after my skin disaster the other week. It was purely my fault though and after taking care of my skin after using sun cream the problem quickly resolved itself. So yes, I do still apply suncream during my outdoor workouts and yes, I want everyone to get involved and either cover up or slather on the cream.

I hope you all have a brilliant summer whatever you get up to, just be safe in the sun!

  1. My daughter, son-in-law and my baby granddaughter will be moving from their rented flat to their first home, so I am busy refurbishing various bits of furniture for them. Today I wrestled with a 2nd hand set of dining chairs trying to get the horrible greasy, stained fabric off so I could recover them. Turned out the fabric was held on by hundreds of industrial strength staples, so after a whole day’s work (and 1 cut finger where my Stanley knife slipped), I’ve only managed to strip one chair. Luckily I have 8 weeks till the move to try to get the other 5 finished!

    1. Oh wow, I love refurbishing. It’s alot of work but I’m sure your effort will pay off and they’ll love it!!
I wish them luck in their new home, Have a brilliant summer Fiona.
